With the Jersey Shore in general and Seaside Heights specifically in dire straits in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the stars of the woebegone MTV hit of the same name (now in its last season) will band together, one more time, for a philanthropic endeavor. And, yes, some would argue that no amount of good deeds could ever be enough to undo the six seasons of emotional trauma the cast of Jersey Shore has unleashed on the national psyche. But this hurricane-relief fund-raiser is a good start! EW reports:

MTV is partnering on the fundraiser with Architecture for Humanity, a non-profit that provides design and construction services after natural disasters. The organization is creating a "Restore the Shore" fund to collect donations for helping reconstruct the Seaside Heights boardwalk, as well as supporting the re-building efforts of businesses and residents in the area. The "Restore the Shore" special airs live on Thursday, Nov. 15 from MTV's Times Square Studio. Viewers will be encouraged to donate online or via text message during and after the event. Architecture for Humanity intends to work with the Borough of Seaside Heights to award rebuilding grants to local contractors, similar to its relief efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Sounds great. Thank you, Vinny, Snooki, The Situation, Sammi, Ronnie, Deena, and Pauly D for — wow, this is kind of tough to say … um … OK — thank you for — hoo boy! OK. OK. I'm just gonna spit it out — setting a good example for our nation's children. By the way, despite the aforementioned massive damage to the region, the Jersey Shore house survived. Let's hope the home can be used as a shelter for those displaced by Sandy? Of course, if the residents of Seaside Heights would rather just stick it out in cots in the local high school auditorium than sleep anywhere near that hot tub, that's totally understandable.
