Well it is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Seychelles family (Henry, Colette, Albert, Leroy, Sherill, Warrence, Frederick and friends). We have been staying at their home on the main island of Mahe for the past few days and enjoying their generous hospitality. Henry, Albert's dad seen above just behind the baby that Sherry is holding, taught me a great lesson in life. Henry was telling me that in the "old days" his house use to be right on the beach and he would go out often in his small fishing boat. But several years ago the government filled in the beach in front of his house and put in a bus station! To add insult to injury, the bus station was built about a foot higher then Henry's property so every time it rained, which was often, Henry's property would flood. I was aghast and ask him why he didn't sue (There I go, thinking American again!). He explained that not only does one not sue the government there, but also it didn't turn out that bad. "You see, now my neighbors all cut through my property on the way to the bus station so I get to see and talk to them much more then before". How's that for seeing the silver lining - I need to change my way of thinking! We had a going away party last night were
they taught us the latest island dance, called the Sega.
We leave with fond memories, many
new friends and a promise to return.
